Rugged laptop for field professionals

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 is a fully rugged 13.1-inch laptop built to MIL-STD-810G and IP65 standards. It survives drops, vibration, dust and water jets encountered in outdoor or industrial work. The sunlight-viewable XGA touchscreen supports digitiser pen input for gloved operation. Integrated Verizon 4G LTE keeps the system connected where Wi-Fi is unavailable.

Sustained load behaviour

A single-core 2.40GHz Intel Core i5 processor handles typical field applications such as data logging, mapping and diagnostics. The 8GB DDR3 800 memory runs in a 4GB x 2 configuration for stable multitasking under continuous use. The 160GB hard drive provides reliable storage in high-vibration environments where solid-state media may not be required. Active cooling maintains performance during extended shifts without thermal throttling.

Installation notes

The unit ships with a power adapter and digitiser pen so deployment begins immediately. Windows 10 Pro 32/64-bit is pre-installed and licensed for corporate imaging. The 10/100/1000Mbps LAN and 802.11a/b/g/n wireless join existing network infrastructure without driver hunting. Buyers who need more storage capacity or solid-state speed should verify drive compatibility before purchase.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise should I expect from the 2.4GHz i5 when the CF-31 runs all day?

The single-core 2.40GHz Intel Core i5 draws modest power, so the rugged chassis dissipates heat without loud fan activity during typical workloads.

What must I already own to use the Verizon 4G LTE and the digitizer pen on this CF-31?

An active Verizon data plan with a compatible SIM is required for 4G LTE; the digitizer pen is included and works immediately with the 13.1" 1024 x 768 touchscreen.

Will the 10/100/1000Mbps LAN and 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN connect reliably to my older router and switch?

Yes, the Gigabit Ethernet port negotiates down to 10/100Mbps, and the Wi-Fi radio supports legacy 802.11a/b/g/n networks without extra configuration.
