Dell Latitude 7480 business laptop

This Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U processor running at 2.6 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB SATA M.2 SSD. The Full HD display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. Windows 10 Pro x64 is pre-installed and the unit is supplied new with charger and battery.

Suits mobile professionals needing core ports

The laptop fits users who need HDMI output for projectors and a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port for docks or external storage. Three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 cover standard connectivity. A microSD reader and webcam are built in. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a discrete GPU or more than 8GB of memory should look elsewhere.

8GB DDR4 soldered memory limits upgrades

The single specification that decides fit is the 8GB of DDR4 memory, which is not user-upgradeable on this model. If your workload regularly exceeds that capacity — such as running multiple virtual machines or large datasets — this unit will bottleneck. For lighter office tasks, web browsing and video calls the fixed 8GB is adequate.

Questions about this item

Will the 8GB DDR4 memory need upgrading for heavier multitasking?

The 8GB DDR4 is soldered and not user-upgradable, so the original capacity remains the limit for the life of the laptop.

What thermal limit appears first when the Core i7-6600U runs at 2.6GHz continuously?

Sustained load pushes the integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 and dual-core CPU into thermal throttling, lowering clocks to manage heat.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the chassis feel during an all-day work session?

The slim chassis forces the single fan to spin audibly under load, and the bottom surface becomes noticeably warm after several hours.
