Latitude 7480 for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0 inch business laptop built for travel and client meetings. It runs on an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor at 2.6 GHz with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. The non-touch FHD display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Thermals and power in daily use

The high efficiency processor helps extend battery life during typical workloads. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles video output without a discrete GPU, keeping heat and noise low for office tasks. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac wireless with Bluetooth 4.2 provide connectivity without adding significant power draw.

Ports and accessories for expansion

One USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port enables docking and high-speed peripherals. An HDMI port connects directly to televisions and projectors for presentations. Three USB 3.0 ports, a microSD card reader, and a built-in webcam cover common accessories. The box includes the laptop, charger, and battery.

Questions about this item

How do I install the NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD and which step is often missed?

Insert the 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD into the M.2 slot at an angle, press down, and secure it with the retaining screw; the step often missed is tightening that screw before reassembling the chassis.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 16GB DDR4 memory is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded or replaced; only a full board swap would change the memory capacity.

What limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads on the Intel Core i7-6600U?

The dual-core Intel Core i7-6600U reaches its thermal ceiling first, causing clock speeds to throttle before the 512GB NVMe SSD or 16GB DDR4 hit any bandwidth limit.
