14.0" business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0-inch laptop built for professionals who travel or meet clients. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-6600U processor with 16GB DDR4 memory. A 1TB SATA M.2 SSD provides fast storage and helps extend battery life during mobile use.

Thermals noise and power in daily work

The dual-core Skylake processor operates at 2.6GHz with a 4MB L2 cache, enabling high efficiency for longer battery runtime. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles the 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display without a discrete GPU, keeping heat and fan noise low during typical office tasks and video playback.

Thunderbolt 3 port decides expansion options

A single USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port supports docking, external displays and high-speed peripherals for future expansion. The laptop also includes three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and a microSD card reader. Buyers who need more than one Thunderbolt connection or discrete graphics for heavy rendering should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 1TB SATA M.2 SSD in the Latitude 7480, and what step do people often miss?

Remove the base cover, insert the M.2 drive into the slot at an angle, then secure it with the single retention screw; the step often missed is pressing the drive flat before tightening the screw so the connector seats fully.

What maintenance will the 16GB DDR4 memory and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 need over time?

The memory is soldered and requires no user maintenance; for the graphics, keep the intake vents clear and repaste the CPU heatsink if temperatures climb above normal after several years.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the Core i7-6600U with Intel HD Graphics 520?

Thermal throttling engages once the dual-core processor hits its temperature ceiling, lowering the 2.6GHz clock to protect the chip during long renders or compiles.
