Mobile workstation

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0 inch laptop built around an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor running at 2.60GHz. It ships with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB SATA M.2 SSD. The Full HD display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution and the system runs Windows 11 Pro. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles the visual output for everyday tasks.

Docking and expansion

A single Thunderbolt 3 port using USB-C provides high-speed data and video output for docks or external displays. One HDMI port connects directly to projectors or televisions for presentations. Three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and a microSD card reader cover legacy peripherals and wired networks. Wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2 handle mobile connectivity without extra dongles.

Sustained workloads

The integrated graphics share system memory, so extended 3D or heavy video encoding will be limited by thermal headroom and the 32GB ceiling. The dual-core CPU maintains 2.60GHz base clocks but has no higher turbo figures listed, so prolonged compile or render jobs run at steady rather than burst speeds. Passive storage is a SATA M.2 drive, so sustained write throughput stays within SATA limits. Buyers who want discrete graphics, user-replaceable storage bays or higher core counts should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What sustained load causes the dual-core 2.6 GHz i7-6600U to throttle first?

The 4 MB L2 cache and integrated HD Graphics 520 share the same thermal budget, so extended multi-threaded work or GPU compute hits the limit before single-thread tasks.

How loud and hot does the 14" chassis get when the 32 GB DDR4 system runs all day?

Office workloads keep fan noise low and surface temperatures warm; continuous video encoding or heavy browsing pushes the fan to an audible whir and the palm rest becomes noticeably hot.

Which dock or monitor cable must I already own to drive an external display at 1920 x 1080?

A standard HDMI cable or a USB-C cable that supports DisplayPort alternate mode will carry 1080p to an external screen; Thunderbolt 3 docks also work.
