14-inch Latitude 7490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U processor with 8MB cache. It ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit, 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB M.2 SATA SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display. Connectivity includes Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2.

Mobile professionals needing legacy OS

This unit suits users who require Windows 10 Home out of the box, a full-size HDMI port for projectors or external displays and Thunderbolt 3 for docks or high-speed peripherals. The 1TB SATA SSD provides ample space for local files without cloud reliance. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a discrete GPU for rendering or gaming, or a newer Windows licence should look elsewhere. The 8GB soldered memory also limits multitasking headroom for heavy workloads.

M.2 SATA SSD storage interface

The installed 1TB drive uses the M.2 form factor with a SATA interface, delivering faster boot and load times than a mechanical drive while preserving battery life. This interface determines which replacement or secondary drives are compatible, so verify SATA support before upgrading storage.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the Intel Core i7-8650U reaches its 4.2 GHz turbo boost after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose CPU and watch the speed reading climb toward 4.2 GHz while running a heavy single-thread workload.

The listing mentions a charger and battery; does the box also contain the Thunderbolt 3 cable or must I buy it separately?

The included items are the laptop, charger and battery only; a Thunderbolt 3 cable is not supplied and must be purchased separately.

Should I choose the 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD version or look for a larger capacity?

The 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD is the only capacity offered for this configuration, so no larger option exists in this listing.
