Dell Latitude E5450 14 inch laptop

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14 inch mainstream laptop powered by a 2.60 GHz Intel Core i5 dual core fifth generation processor. It comes with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a 128 GB SSD for the operating system and files. Windows 10 Home 64 bit is pre-installed and activates automatically on first use. The non touch display suits office and mobile workers who need a ready to run system.

Thermals noise and power draw

The laptop uses integrated on board graphics which keeps heat output modest during typical productivity tasks. A lithium ion battery is included and tested to hold a charge for mobile use. The original AC adapter is supplied for mains power. Fan noise stays low during light workloads such as document editing and web browsing.

Build fit and expansion

Two memory slots are present but the maximum supported memory is 16 GB so no further RAM upgrades are possible. The 128 GB SSD can be replaced with a larger drive if more storage is needed. Connectivity includes two USB ports and 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN. A webcam is built in for video calls and there is no optical drive to save space and weight.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 128GB SSD in this Latitude E5450, and which step do people get wrong?

The SSD fits the internal 2.5 inch bay; the step people miss is cloning the OS before swapping so Windows 10 activates automatically.

What maintenance will the original lithium-ion battery need later?

The original battery is tested to hold a charge; expect to replace it once runtime drops below your daily needs.

What limit appears first when the Intel i5 2.60 GHz runs sustained loads?

The 16GB DDR3 maximum memory caps multitasking headroom before the dual-core processor throttles.
