Dell Latitude E5450 14 inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14 inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i5 2.60 GHz processor with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a 240GB SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit already installed and activated. This configuration suits office workers, students and mobile professionals who need a reliable mainstream machine for everyday productivity.

Black chassis with two memory slots and essential

The black chassis houses two memory slots supporting a maximum of 16 GB of RAM for future upgrades. Connectivity includes two USB ports and 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN, while an integrated webcam supports video calls. The system uses integrated on board graphics and has no optical drive, keeping the profile lean for daily carry.

Integrated graphics and 802.11a/b/g Wi Fi set

Integrated graphics limit the laptop to basic display output and light media tasks rather than gaming or intensive 3D work. The 802.11a/b/g wireless standard caps network throughput below modern Wi Fi speeds, so large file transfers or high bandwidth streaming will be slower than on newer hardware. The original lithium ion battery is tested to hold a charge, though runtime will vary with workload.

Questions about this item

What does the 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN cap in practice?

The 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN caps real-world throughput well below modern 802.11n or ac speeds, so expect slower downloads and higher latency on busy networks.

What does the 14" chassis require to fit a second memory module?

The 14" chassis has two DDR3 slots with one occupied; adding a second module needs a 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM and removing the bottom cover to access the empty slot.

How is the fresh Windows 10 Pro digital licence installed, and what step do people miss?

The digital product key activates automatically after you accept the licence agreement; the step people miss is connecting to the internet so Microsoft servers can verify the entitlement.
