Ready-to-use business laptop

The Dell Latitude E5450 arrives with Windows 10 Home 64-bit already activated so it is ready to use straight out of the box. It is aimed at office workers and students who need a 14-inch non-touch screen and a traditional hard drive for everyday tasks.

Fifth-generation Intel Core i7 at 2.90 GHz

The single specification that decides fit is the processor: an Intel Core i7 5th Gen dual core running at 2.90 GHz with a base frequency of 2.80 GHz. Only 4 GB of DDR3 memory is installed, though two slots support up to 16 GB if the workload demands more.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the dual-core chip maintains its clock speed without the thermal headroom of higher-wattage parts. The 500 GB SATA drive delivers consistent throughput for business applications, while the 802.11a/b/g wireless link provides basic connectivity for long sessions.

Questions about this item

How does the 2.90 GHz Intel Core i7 5th Gen perform in everyday business tasks?

The dual-core 2.90 GHz processor handles office applications, web browsing and email smoothly for typical business workloads.

What does the 802.11a/b/g wireless adapter mean for network speeds?

The 802.11a/b/g adapter connects to older Wi-Fi networks; maximum link rates are limited to the legacy standard supported by the hardware.

Can the 14" chassis take a second memory module to reach the 16 GB maximum?

Yes, the laptop has two DDR3 slots with 4 GB installed, so one slot is free for an upgrade up to the 16 GB limit.
