Business ultrabook with dual storage

The Dell Latitude E7440 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for office professionals who need reliable daily performance. It combines a 4th Gen Intel Core i5-4200U dual-core processor running at 1.6 to 1.9 GHz with 16 GB of DDR3 memory in an 8 GB x 2 configuration. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed on a 256 GB mSATA solid-state drive while a 1 TB hard drive provides additional capacity for files and archives.

Upgrade from single-drive or low-memory machines

This unit replaces older laptops that rely on a single mechanical drive or offer only 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM. The dual-drive layout gives faster boot and application load times from the mSATA SSD while keeping 1000 GB of hard-drive space for bulk data. The jump is worth it when your current system feels sluggish on multitasking or runs out of room for large document libraries.

Check your workflow and peripheral needs

Verify that integrated Intel HD Graphics at 1280 x 720 resolution meets your display requirements before ordering. The non-touch HD LED panel and DDR3 memory are fixed specifications that cannot be upgraded later. Ensure the available VGA and HDMI outputs match your external monitor setup and that the DVD-RW drive covers any legacy media tasks you still perform.

Questions about this item

What drive bays does the 14.0" E7440 provide for the 256 GB mSATA SSD and the 1 TB hard drive?

The laptop has an mSATA slot for the 256 GB SSD and a 2.5 in bay for the 1 TB hard drive.

How are the two 8 GB DDR3 modules installed, and what slot mistake do buyers make?

Both SODIMM slots are occupied by the 8 GB x 2 kit; the common error is trying to add a third module when no slot remains.

Which storage part will likely need replacement first, the mSATA SSD or the 1 TB hard drive?

The 1 TB mechanical drive has moving parts and typically fails before the solid-state mSATA SSD.
