Purpose-built business ultrabook

The Dell Latitude E7440 is a 14-inch ultrabook aimed at professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine for daily office tasks. Its dual-core Intel Core i5-4200U processor and 8 GB of DDR3 memory handle document editing, web browsing and video calls without fuss. The 1280 x 720 LED display keeps the chassis thin and light for travel between meetings.

Sustained-load behaviour

Under continuous workloads the 4th-generation Core i5 runs between 1.6 and 1.9 GHz while the integrated Intel HD Graphics shares system memory. The operating system boots from a 256 GB mSATA solid-state drive, so application launches stay responsive even when the secondary 1 TB hard drive is busy archiving large files. Thermal throttling is managed by the ultrabook-class cooling design built for typical business duty cycles.

Compatibility checklist

Verify that your existing peripherals connect via the available VGA and HDMI video outputs and standard USB ports. The 8 GB memory ships as two 4 GB DDR3 SODIMM modules, so any future upgrade must match that specification. The 2.5-inch hard-drive bay and mSATA slot are both occupied, leaving no internal room for additional storage without removing a drive. Buyers who want more storage or a touchscreen should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Latitude E7440 get when the dual-core i5-4200U runs at 1.6 – 1.9 GHz all day?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics and low-voltage processor keep heat modest under typical office loads; the chassis stays comfortable on a desk for extended sessions.

What existing parts must I already have — such as DDR3 SODIMM slots — for the 8 GB (4 GB × 2) memory to function?

The laptop ships with both SODIMM slots populated by 4 GB DDR3 modules, so no extra RAM is required unless you plan to upgrade later.

Will the 1280 × 720 HD panel and VGA or HDMI outputs still drive an older 1080p monitor I keep?

HDMI supports up to 1080p on an external display, while the built-in screen remains at 1280 × 720; VGA is also available for legacy projectors.
