Built for harsh environments

The Dell Latitude Rugged 5424 is a 14.0 inch laptop designed to survive drops, vibration, and extreme temperatures. Its non-touch FHD display reaches brightness levels readable in direct sunlight. An Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 6MB cache and speeds up to 3.60 GHz handles field data collection and logistics software. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 1TB SSD provide responsive multitasking and local storage for offline work. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit ships pre-installed.

Ports and power for field deployment

The chassis includes USB 3.0 ports, USB Type-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, a serial port, and RJ-45 Ethernet for legacy industrial gear and modern peripherals alike. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives external monitors without a discrete GPU. Wireless options cover Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and optional LTE 4G with dedicated GPS for connectivity away from fixed infrastructure. Internal 6- or 9-cell batteries support full-shift runtime, while an optional hot-swap bridge battery lets you change power without shutting down.

Ready to work out of the box

A Dell OEM charger is included so the system can be deployed immediately. The ruggedised keyboard and touchpad are sealed against dust and moisture, reducing downtime from environmental damage. MIL-STD testing and test-to-failure qualification mean IT teams spend less time on hardware triage. Buyers who need a thinner ultrabook for office-only use or a larger screen for detailed CAD review should consider other form factors.

Questions about this item

At what clock speed does the Core i5-8350U throttle under sustained load?

The processor runs at a base frequency and can boost up to 3.60 GHz; thermal limits will determine the exact sustained speed in the Rugged 5424 chassis.

How loud are the fans and what surface temperatures should I expect during an all-day workload?

The system uses ruggedised cooling to manage heat from the i5-8350U and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620; fan noise and chassis warmth will rise with continuous use.

Which peripherals and docks can I connect to the USB 3.0 Type-A, USB-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, serial and RJ-45 ports?

You can attach external monitors via HDMI or DisplayPort, legacy serial devices, wired networks through RJ-45, and standard USB 3.0 or USB-C accessories.
