Adds a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port over USB-C with aluminium housing and bus power
The Dell NT-25GA adds a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port to any device with a USB-C connector. It is aimed at laptop and tablet users who need wired network speeds beyond standard Gigabit without opening the chassis. The integrated cable keeps the setup compact for mobile workstations.
This adapter replaces older USB 3.0 Gigabit dongles when the network infrastructure supports 2.5GBASE-T. The jump is worth it for users transferring large files over Cat5e or better cabling at distances up to 100 meters. It requires a host port capable of USB 3.0 5Gbps or faster to saturate the link.
The unit draws power from the host USB-C port so no external supply is needed. An aluminium shell provides durability and heat dissipation during sustained transfers. Driver support is available for Windows, macOS and Linux, with UEFI UNDI and PXE boot on compatible systems.

It requires a USB 3.0 (5Gbps) or faster port such as USB 3.1 or USB 3.2 Gen 1x1; slower ports will limit throughput.
The adapter works out of the box on many systems, but installing the vendor-supplied driver for Windows, macOS or Linux enables full 2.5GbE performance and features like Wake-On-LAN.
Cat5E or better cable supports the rated 2.5Gbps up to 100 meters with compliant network hardware using the IEEE 802.3bz standard.
