Dell OptiPlex 790/990 Mini Tower

This Dell OptiPlex 790/990 Mini Tower is a desktop computer built around an Intel 2nd Gen i5-2400 quad-core processor running at 3.10 GHz with a 3.40 GHz turbo boost. It comes with 16 GB of DDR3 memory, a 512 GB SSD, a 2 TB hard drive, DVD±RW drive, Gigabit Ethernet, a USB wireless dongle, and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit pre-installed. A USB keyboard and mouse are included.

Suits everyday office and home tasks

The 16 GB DDR3 and dual-drive layout give smooth multitasking for web browsing, document work, email, and media playback. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 handles basic display output only. Buyers who need dedicated graphics for gaming, video editing, or 3D work should look elsewhere, as should anyone requiring a newer processor architecture or faster memory standard.

512 GB SSD plus 2 TB HDD storage

The 512 GB solid-state drive provides quick boot and application launch, while the 2 TB hard drive adds generous space for large files, backups, and media libraries. The 265 W power supply and mini-tower chassis limit internal expansion to low-profile cards and modest power draw. Users planning high-wattage upgrades or multiple additional drives will need a different platform.

Questions about this item

Does the 265 W power supply and Mini Tower case leave room for a PCIe graphics card upgrade?

The 265 W supply and Mini Tower chassis support low-profile PCIe cards that draw power only from the slot; a card needing an extra power connector would exceed the budget.

Will the integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 drive a legacy VGA monitor without an adapter?

The rear video outputs are DVI and DisplayPort; a VGA screen needs an active DVI-to-VGA or DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter.

How can I verify the 16 GB DDR3 configuration is recognised after first boot?

Open Task Manager → Performance → Memory and confirm 16 GB appears with DDR3 shown as the type.
