Dell OptiPlex 9010 Mini Tower Desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 9010 Mini Tower is a business-class desktop computer built around a 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770 quad-core processor running at 3.40 GHz. It comes with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 3.5-inch 1 TB Serial ATA hard drive. The system ships with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed and includes a USB keyboard and mouse.

Included Peripherals and Connectivity

A DVD±RW optical drive provides legacy media read and write capability for software installation or archiving. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 drives display output without a discrete card. Gigabit Ethernet delivers wired network connectivity, while the bundled USB keyboard and mouse mean the system is ready to use immediately after adding a monitor.

Suitability and Limitations

This desktop suits office workers, students or home users who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine for productivity, web browsing and basic multimedia. Buyers who want more storage capacity, faster solid-state storage or a dedicated graphics card for gaming or intensive 3D work should look at other configurations. The four memory slots are fully populated, so any memory upgrade requires replacing existing modules.

Questions about this item

Will I need to replace the 3.5" 1 TB Serial ATA hard drive later?

Mechanical hard drives can develop bad sectors or fail after years of constant use; a solid-state drive would be a faster, more reliable replacement when that happens.

What limits performance first during long, heavy workloads on the Core i7-3770 3.40 GHz?

The Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrated GPU shares system memory and thermal headroom, so graphics-intensive tasks hit its ceiling before the four CPU cores do.

How much fan noise and heat should I expect from the Mini Tower running all day?

The chassis uses a single 240-pin DDR3 memory configuration and integrated graphics, so the cooling system only handles the 64-bit quad-core CPU and 1 TB hard drive, keeping noise moderate under typical office loads.
