Product identity

The Dell Precision 5530 2-in-1 is a 15.6-inch convertible workstation that pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8706G processor with AMD Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL graphics and 4 GB GDDR5 video memory. It ships with 16 GB DDR4 RAM, a 512 GB NVMe SSD and Windows 11 Pro pre-installed in a silver chassis.

Who it suits and who it does not

Creative professionals and engineers who need a colour-accurate 72% gamut FHD touchscreen, Thunderbolt connectivity and a 65-watt adapter for mobile work will find the configuration fits their workflow. Buyers who need more than 16 GB memory, a higher-wattage power supply or a discrete GPU beyond the integrated Vega M GL should look elsewhere.

Deciding specification

The soldered 16 GB DDR4 memory cannot be upgraded, so the maximum supported capacity is fixed at 16 GB and determines whether the system can handle larger datasets or heavier multitasking.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum memory the Precision 5530 2-in-1 can support, and is there a free slot to add more?

The system supports a maximum of 16 GB of DDR4 memory and has zero available slots, so the installed 16 GB cannot be expanded.

The two USB-C 3.1 ports with DisplayPort alternate mode and the HDMI 2.0 port can each drive an external monitor.

When will the 65-watt AC adapter supplied with the Precision 5530 2-in-1 typically need replacement?

Replace the adapter if the cable frays, the barrel connector becomes loose, or the unit no longer charges the battery reliably.
