Mobile workstation for CAD and data analysis

The Dell Precision 7550 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need certified application performance away from a desk. A six-core Intel Core i7-10850H processor with 12 MB cache and 64 GB of DDR4 memory drives 3D rendering, design and data-analysis workloads. A 2 TB NVMe PCIe SSD provides fast storage for large project files. NVIDIA Quadro T2000 graphics with 4 GB GDDR6 deliver certified stability for major CAD and creative suites.

Thermals and acoustics under load

The 45 W processor and discrete GPU are cooled in a chassis designed for sustained professional workloads. Fan noise rises during extended rendering or simulation tasks but remains at a level suited to office or studio environments. Power draw scales with the 45 W CPU and the Quadro T2000 under full utilisation, so the included AC adapter is sized for that combined load. Windows 11 Pro manages power states to balance performance and battery life during mobile use.

Connectivity and included accessories

Two Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports with PowerShare, HDMI 2.0 and Mini DisplayPort 1.4 support multiple external displays and high-speed peripherals. An SD card reader, Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45, HD webcam, 802.11ac wireless and Bluetooth complete the I/O set. The box contains the laptop with Windows 11 Pro preloaded and the OEM AC adapter matched to the system's power requirement. No optical drive is fitted.

Questions about this item

How do I install the NVIDIA Quadro T2000 driver on Windows 11 Pro and which step causes the most issues?

Download the Quadro T2000 4GB GDDR6 driver from NVIDIA, run the clean-install option, then reboot; the step most people skip is disabling the Intel UHD 630 in Device Manager first, which prevents the installer from hanging.

What maintenance will the 64GB DDR4 memory and 2TB NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD need over time?

The 64GB DDR4 is soldered at its 64GB maximum so it cannot be upgraded; the 2TB NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD is replaceable — plan to swap it once write endurance or capacity becomes limiting.

Which limit appears first during sustained 45W CPU loads on the Precision 7550?

The 45W six-core i7-10850H hits its thermal ceiling before the Quadro T2000 4GB GDDR6 does, so clock speeds throttle first on the processor side.
