Precision 7730 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built for engineers, designers and analysts who need certified professional graphics and large memory capacity in a single chassis. It ships new with Windows 10 Pro and an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor.

Dual NVMe storage plus 128 GB DDR4

The configuration pairs a 256 GB M.2 drive with a 2 TB M.2 drive, giving fast boot and ample project space without an external enclosure. 128 GB of DDR4 RAM lets you keep massive assemblies, point-cloud data or virtual machines resident simultaneously.

Quadro P3200 6 GB GDDR5 graphics

The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 delivers 6 GB of GDDR5 memory and is optimised for CAD, DCC and simulation workloads comparable to a GTX 1060. The 17.3-inch FHD IPS panel covers 72 % colour gamut at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 drive external displays, while the six-core CPU tops out at 4.10 GHz turbo for burst compute. Buyers who need more than 6 GB GPU memory or a higher-resolution internal screen should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Can the 128GB DDR4 memory be upgraded beyond the current amount?

The system ships with 128GB DDR4 installed; this matches the maximum capacity quoted for the Precision 7730 platform.

Will the Quadro P3200 6GB GDDR5 throttle before the i7-8750H hits its 4.10 GHz turbo under long renders?

The Quadro P3200 6GB GDDR5 is the dedicated GPU; sustained loads will be limited by its thermal envelope before the CPU reaches peak turbo.

How loud do the fans get when the 17.3" FHD panel and Quadro P3200 run flat-out all day?

Dell describes the cooling as revolutionary thermals designed to keep the chassis cool during extended high-performance workloads.
