Precision 7730 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation built for engineers and designers who need certified graphics and large memory capacity in a single chassis. It ships new with Windows 11 Pro installed and a silver finish.

128 GB DDR4 and dual NVMe storage

The system combines 128 GB of DDR4 RAM with a 1 TB and a 2 TB NVMe M.2 SSD, giving ample space for large assemblies and datasets. Connectivity includes two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI 2.0 and a headset jack for daily peripheral needs.

Quadro P3200 6 GB GDDR5 upgrade

The dedicated Nvidia Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5 replaces consumer graphics for CAD and simulation workloads, offering driver certification that GeForce GTX 1060 class cards lack. The jump is worthwhile when ISV stability matters more than raw gaming frame rates.

Questions about this item

What does the Thunderbolt 3 port on this Precision 7730 cap at for data throughput?

The Thunderbolt 3 port supports up to 40 Gbps bandwidth, enabling fast external storage and dual 4K display output.

What physical drive slots does this 7730 chassis provide for the 1 TB and 2 TB SSDs?

It has two M.2 2280 slots; both are populated with the 1 TB and 2 TB NVMe drives in this configuration.

How is the 128 GB DDR4 memory installed, and what slot mistake do buyers often make?

The 128 GB kit fills all four SODIMM slots with 32 GB modules; the common error is leaving a slot empty or mixing capacities, which reduces bandwidth.
