17.3" FHD mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation with a 1920 x 1080 IPS display, an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor, 32 GB DDR4 memory and a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card with 6 GB GDDR5 video memory. It ships with Windows 11 Pro installed.

Suited for CAD and content creation

Engineers and designers running CAD workloads or multi-threaded applications benefit from the six-core CPU and certified Quadro drivers. The non-touch FHD panel covers 72 % colour gamut. Buyers who need a touchscreen, higher refresh rate or a smaller chassis should look elsewhere.

6 GB Quadro P3200 GPU

The single specification that decides fit is the NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5 memory. It delivers workstation-class performance for 3D modelling and rendering, comparable to a GeForce GTX 1060. If your software demands more video memory or newer GPU architecture, this laptop will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 128 GB plus 4 TB dual-drive setup or a single larger NVMe drive?

The dual-drive configuration ships with a 128 GB boot drive and a 4 TB secondary drive already installed, giving you fast OS performance and ample project storage without extra parts.

What does the i7-8750H 2.20 GHz base and 4.10 GHz turbo mean for daily workloads?

Six cores and twelve threads at 2.20 GHz base with 4.10 GHz turbo boost deliver strong multi-threaded speed for CAD, rendering and heavy multitasking.

How does the Thunderbolt 3 port limit external GPU or storage performance?

Thunderbolt 3 caps at 40 Gbps, so an eGPU or NVMe enclosure will run at near-native PCIe speeds for the Quadro P3200 class workloads.
