Precision 7730 17.3" Mobile Workstation

This Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need reliable performance in a portable chassis. It runs on an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor with a base clock of 2.20 GHz and Turbo Boost up to 4.10 GHz. The system includes 64 GB DDR4 memory and dual M.2 SSD storage comprising a 512 GB drive and a 2 TB drive. Graphics are handled by an NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5 video memory.

Suited For And Not Suited For

This workstation suits engineers, designers and analysts who run CAD, simulation or rendering workloads that benefit from ISV-certified drivers and a dedicated professional GPU. The 17.3-inch FHD IPS panel with 72% colour gamut supports colour-sensitive tasks on a large canvas. Buyers who need a lighter device for frequent travel or a touchscreen for direct input should look at other form factors. The fixed 64 GB memory capacity also limits users who require upgradeable RAM beyond this amount.

Quadro P3200 6 GB GDDR5 Graphics

The NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5 is the specification that determines suitability for professional 3D applications. It provides certified driver support for major CAD and DCC packages and delivers performance comparable to a GeForce GTX 1060 in raw throughput. Workloads that demand higher video memory or newer architecture features will require a different GPU tier. The Thunderbolt 3 port allows external GPU expansion if future needs change.
