Active bookshelf speaker pair

The Edifier R1280T is a 2.0 stereo set with built-in amplification, delivering 42 watts RMS from a compact wooden enclosure. Each cabinet houses a 4-inch full-range driver and a 13mm silk dome tweeter for balanced near-field listening. Dual RCA inputs allow two sources to stay connected simultaneously without cable swapping. A wireless remote puts volume, bass and treble adjustments at hand.

Connectivity and placement fit

These speakers suit desktop, bookshelf or sideboard positions where a separate amplifier is unwanted and two wired sources such as a computer and a TV share one pair. The 120 by 120 by 25 millimetre footprint keeps them discreet on shallow shelves. Buyers who need Bluetooth streaming, a dedicated subwoofer output or higher SPL for larger rooms should consider other designs.

42 watts RMS total power

The combined continuous output of 42 watts determines the realistic listening level and headroom for near-field use. Match this figure to your room size and preferred volume before deciding.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Edifier R1280T is working correctly after connecting it?

Power on the speakers, select an active AUX input, play audio and verify sound comes from both the 13mm silk dome tweeter and the 4 inch full-range unit; use the remote or side-panel bass and treble controls to check response.

What cables and accessories are included with the R1280T pair and what must I provide?

The box contains the active and passive speakers, an RCA-to-RCA audio cable, a 3.5 mm-to-RCA audio cable and a wireless remote control; you only need a source device with a 3.5 mm headphone output or dual RCA output.

Which version of the R1280T should I choose for a desktop near-field setup?

The single listed model delivers 42 watts RMS, a 27 Hz – 120 kHz frequency response and dual AUX inputs, making it suited for near-field monitoring without further version choices.
