Four-pack UHF radios with earpieces

The Emerson 888S ships as a four-unit set of handheld two-way radios operating on the 400-470 MHz UHF band. Each unit includes a 1500 mAh lithium-ion battery, charging dock, antenna, belt clip, hand strap and a 3.5 mm earpiece for private listening. The sixteen-channel selector and VOX voice activation suit teams that need simple push-to-talk coordination.

Battery life under continuous use

A full charge requires roughly three to four hours and delivers eight to twelve hours of non-stop transmission. In typical intermittent duty the same charge can last up to forty-eight hours, so a single overnight dock cycle covers most full-day shifts. The low-battery alert sounds before the pack is exhausted, giving users time to swap or recharge.

Range limits of UHF 400-470 MHz

In open terrain the radios can reach three miles, while urban or obstructed environments reduce reliable coverage to between eight-tenths and 1.3 miles. The fixed fifteen-hundred milliampere-hour pack and integrated antenna cannot be upgraded for extra power, so the stated distances represent the practical ceiling for this frequency band and hardware combination.
