Adapts a Molex LP4 connector to an 8-inch 3-pin fan lead and adds a 4-inch Molex extension, both 12 V only
This cable extracts a 3-pin TX3 fan power feed from a standard 4-pin Molex LP4 connector on the power supply. An additional 4-inch Molex male-to-female extension preserves the original port for another device. The assembly suits builders who need to run a 3-pin CPU or case fan from a 12 V DC rail without sacrificing a Molex connection.
Use this adapter when the motherboard lacks a spare 3-pin header or when an existing header has failed. The jump is worthwhile only if the fan operates on 12 V DC; the cable does not support 5 V DC fans, so owners of low-voltage models must look elsewhere.
Both Molex and 3-pin connectors are keyed, so they fit in a single orientation. The 3-pin plug carries only two wires and omits the tachometer pin, meaning fan-speed reporting will not function. Verify that the fan is rated for 12 V DC before powering the system.

The 4-inch 18AWG Molex LP4 extension adds just enough length to act as a port saver so the fan tap does not occupy the PSU socket.
The 3-pin male carries only two wires (12 V and ground), so the tachometer pin on the 4-pin header simply stays empty.
Inspect the 22AWG fan tap at each major hardware change; the finer gauge is more prone to work-hardening when bent in tight spaces.
