Two-pack 3.5 mm Y splitter for headset and mic

This two-pack provides a 3.5 mm Y splitter that separates a single combined headset jack into distinct headphone and microphone connections for PC or laptop use. Each adapter measures 5 in. and carries a gray finish. The set suits users who need a straightforward way to plug a modern headset into separate audio ports.

Two female ports from one male plug

The adapter presents one 3.5 mm male input and two 3.5 mm female outputs, letting you connect both stereo headphones and a mono microphone simultaneously. Cable length is fixed at 5 in., so reach is limited to closely spaced ports. No additional length or extension is included.

CTIA pinout limits compatibility

The splitter follows the CTIA standard, so it works with headsets wired to that layout but will not function correctly with OMTP-wired devices. Gold-plated contacts are used for corrosion resistance. The short cable and fixed pinout mean the adapter cannot bridge distant jacks or adapt non-standard wiring.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.5mm male plug on this HD84 splitter fit the single combo audio jack on my older laptop?

The splitter has a 3.5mm 4-position male input designed for CTIA headsets, so it plugs directly into a combined headphone/microphone port on a laptop or PC.

How can I confirm the microphone and headphone channels are active after I plug in the Y splitter?

Open your system sound settings and verify the input level moves when you speak into the headset mic while the output plays audio through the headphones.

The pack says two gray cables at 5 in each; are any extra adapters or extension leads included?

The package contains two 5-inch gray Y-splitter cables with one 3.5mm male plug and two 3.5mm female sockets each; no other adapters or cables are in the box.
