Connectivity and compatibility

The ESTONE TJ-A091 is a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 to DisplayPort 1.4 cable built for users who need to link laptops or desktops with Mini DP outputs to standard DisplayPort monitors. It supports bi-directional transmission so the same cable works from a Mini DP source to a DP display or from a DP source to a Mini DP display. Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2 ports on compatible MacBooks are also supported.

Sustained signal performance

Rated at 32.4 Gbps bandwidth, the cable maintains 8K resolution at 7680x4320 and 60 Hz with 10-bit colour, RGB 4:4:4, HDR and DSC 1.2 compression. It also delivers 4K at 3840x2160 and 144 Hz, plus 2K at 2560x1440 up to 165 Hz and 1080p up to 165 Hz. These rates are held continuously rather than only in short bursts.

Thermals, noise and power

Passive copper construction with gold-plated connectors means no active cooling, no fan noise and no external power draw. The aluminium shells and braided PVC-and-cotton jacket provide physical durability and signal shielding without adding heat or audible operation to the setup.

Questions about this item

Will the 10 ft length or 32.4 Gbps bandwidth cause signal heat or power draw during all-day 8K 60 Hz use?

The cable is passive copper with gold-plated connectors and aluminium shells; it draws no external power and generates negligible heat at the rated 32.4 Gbps bandwidth.

What must my source and display already have for this Mini DP 1.4 to DP 1.4 cable to work?

A Mini DisplayPort 1.4 output (or Thunderbolt 1/2 port with DP Alt Mode) on the source and a full-size DisplayPort 1.4 input on the display, both supporting the desired resolution and refresh rate.

If I keep an older 1440p 144 Hz monitor with only DisplayPort 1.2, will this cable still drive it correctly?

Yes, the DisplayPort 1.4 cable is backward compatible and will transmit 2560×1440 at 144 Hz over a DP 1.2 link without issue.
