Micro-Cut Security for Small Teams

The Fellowes 4609001 Microshred 99Ms is a micro-cut shredder built for one to three users in a home office or shared workspace. It produces P-5 security particles measuring 5/64" x 9/16", which are ten times smaller than standard cross-cut output. The unit handles twelve sheets per pass at a speed of eleven feet per minute.

Practical Limits of the Micro-Cut Standard

Micro-cut shredding creates denser waste, so the nine-gallon pullout bin holds over eighty percent more particles per gallon than cross-cut machines. Continuous operation is capped at fifteen minutes before a mandatory twenty-five minute cool-down period. The 9-inch paper entry width and 14 sheets per pass rating set the physical boundary for each shredding task.

Upgrade from Strip-Cut or Cross-Cut Machines

This model replaces strip-cut or cross-cut shredders when document sensitivity requires DIN P-5 particle size. The jump is worth it for users who regularly process staples, credit cards, or confidential paperwork and need SilentShred quiet operation plus SafeSense automatic stop protection. It is not suited for departments needing continuous high-volume throughput or continuous-duty cycles.
