A 90-degree green adapter board converts the ROG Ally's 2230 M.2 slot to accept a 2280 NVME PCIe 4.0 drive for higher capacity and speed
This adapter lets ROG Ally owners replace the factory 2230 M.2 drive with a full-length 2280 NVME SSD. The green 90-degree board routes the longer module flat against the handheld's chassis so the back cover closes cleanly. It targets gamers and power users who need more capacity and PCIe 4.0 throughput than the stock drive provides.
The compact PCB uses a right-angle M-key connector to sit flush inside the tight Ally cavity. Build quality relies on a standard four-layer stack with gold fingers and a soldered retention post for the 2280 drive. No cables or brackets are included; the board mounts directly into the existing M.2 slot and secures with the device's original screw.
Cloning the original system drive requires booting the Ally, attaching the new SSD through the adapter, and running a migration tool such as DiskGenius. The upgrade is worthwhile once the factory drive fills up or becomes a bottleneck, but it demands disassembly confidence and comfort with drive-cloning software.

The adapter carries a PCIe 4.0 x4 M-key interface, so the installed 2280 NVME SSD is limited to PCIe 4.0 transfer rates.
The green 90-degree short board measures 3.3 x 2.4 x 0.4 cm and is shaped to fit inside the ROG Ally without fouling the case.
Mount the 2280 SSD on the board, insert the assembly into the Ally, boot the original system, then run DiskGenius "system migration" to clone the OS before swapping drives.
