Host Adapter for PCIe NVMe SSD

This Fervit host adapter adds a single Oculink SFF-8612 interface to a system through a PCIe 3.0 M.2 M-Key slot. It enables connection of one NVMe SSD using an optional cable. The adapter supports Linux Kernel 4.3 or above and Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and their 64-bit variants.

Build Integration and Expansion

The card fits into an available M.2 M-Key slot and provides one SFF-8612 port for external drive attachment. An optional cable is required to link the SSD. This arrangement frees internal drive bays and standard expansion slots for other components.

Sustained Load Behaviour

The adapter operates on the PCIe 3.0 electrical interface, maintaining a consistent link for the attached NVMe SSD. It supports the listed operating systems without additional drivers. Builders needing multiple drive connections or a different host interface should consider other solutions.

Questions about this item

Will the PCIe 3.0 x4 link limit sustained throughput on this adapter?

The adapter uses a PCIe 3.0 connection so the link itself sets the maximum sustained bandwidth.

Does the board generate noticeable heat or noise during all-day operation?

The adapter has no active cooling and no moving parts so it runs silently with minimal heat.

What cable and drive do I need to use this adapter?

You need an Oculink SFF-8612 cable and an M.2 2260 NVMe SSD to connect a drive.
