Flat Cat 7 cable for home networking

This six-point-six-foot white Cat 7 patch cable uses four shielded twisted pairs and 32 AWG conductors to carry ten Gigabit per second traffic at up to six hundred MHz. Gold-plated RJ45 contacts and snagless boots resist corrosion and stay secure in routers, switches, consoles and PCs. The flat profile slips under carpets or along baseboards without tangling. It is built for gamers, streamers and home-office users who want a tidy, high-speed wired link.

Suited for gigabit and ten-gigabit LANs

The cable works with any device that accepts a standard RJ45 port, including Xbox and PlayStation consoles, printers, NAS boxes and VoIP phones. Backward compatibility covers Cat 5 through Cat 6A equipment. It is not for installers who need in-wall fire ratings or outdoor burial grades. Buyers who require plenum-rated jackets or industrial locking connectors should choose a different product.

Ten Gigabit throughput at six hundred MHz

The headline specification is the ten thousand megabits per second data rate supported by the Cat 7 shielding and 32 AWG bare-copper construction. This bandwidth ceiling decides whether the cord meets a given network’s speed plan.

Questions about this item

Does the flat 32AWG Cat 7 cable generate noticeable heat or consume extra power when running at 10 Gigabit all day?

No — it is a passive copper cable with no active electronics, so it draws no power and produces no measurable heat even at the full 10000Mbps rate.

What equipment must I already have for the gold-plated RJ45 connectors on this 6.6 ft cable to work?

Any device with a standard 8P8C Ethernet port — router, switch, modem, PC, NAS, printer, VoIP phone, or consoles such as Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 or PS4.

Will this Cat 7 cable work reliably when plugged into my older Cat 5e wall jacks and a 100 Mbps switch?

Yes — it is backward-compatible with Cat 5, Cat 5e, Cat 6 and Cat 6A, so it will negotiate the highest speed both ends support without errors.
