Cat 7 flat cable for home networking

This flat Cat 7 Ethernet cable measures 10 ft and uses 32AWG conductors to deliver up to 10000Mbps at 600MHz bandwidth. It targets gamers, streamers and home-office users who need a low-profile link for consoles, PCs, routers or NAS devices. The white jacket blends with light-coloured walls and carpets.

Practical limits of Cat 7 flat cabling

The 32AWG gauge keeps the cable thin enough to slip under carpet or along skirting boards, but the smaller conductors increase insertion loss compared with thicker solid-core runs. Shielded SSTP construction reduces alien crosstalk, yet the 10 ft length stays well within the 100 m channel limit so attenuation is not a concern for typical indoor runs. Gold-plated RJ45 contacts resist oxidation in humid environments.

Installation notes and common pitfalls

The flat profile prevents tangling and simplifies routing through tight gaps, while snagless boots protect the latch during repeated plug cycles. Multi-strand conductors tolerate frequent bending but should not be kinked sharply or stapled through the jacket. Ensure each connector clicks fully into the port; a loose fit is the most common cause of intermittent 10 Gbps links.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 10 ft white Cat 7 cable or a different length for my setup?

The 10 ft white Cat 7 cable suits short runs between a router and a desktop, console or switch; pick a longer version only if the devices sit further apart.

Will the 10000Mbps rating give me 10 gigabit throughput on my home network?

The cable supports up to 10000Mbps and 600MHz bandwidth, so it can carry 10 gigabit traffic provided your router, switch and network cards also run at that speed.

Does the gold-plated RJ45 connector limit the cable to a specific port type?

The gold-plated RJ45 (8P8C) connector fits any standard Ethernet port on routers, switches, modems, consoles and PCs, and the cable is backward compatible with Cat 5 through Cat 6A equipment.
