Connects 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives to USB 3.0 at 5Gbps with UASP for fast transfers and no enclosure needed
This adapter cable lets you attach a bare 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA SSD or HDD to a USB 3.0 port on a laptop or desktop. It supports SATA I, II and III drives up to 12TB capacity for quick data access, backup, disk imaging or recovery tasks without installing the drive inside an enclosure.
The cable operates at the USB 3.0 maximum of 5Gbps. Real-world throughput reaches that level only when the host system also supports UASP; otherwise speeds fall back to conventional USB 3.0 performance. The 40cm length keeps the connection tidy but restricts drive placement to a short distance from the port.
A 3.5-inch hard drive requires a separate 12V 2A power supply with a 5.5mm by 2.1mm DC jack, which is not included. 2.5-inch drives usually run from the USB port alone. Verify that your computer has a USB 3.0 Type-A port and that the operating system can recognise an external SATA volume.

The adapter fits both 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA drives up to 12TB; 2.5 inch units draw power from the USB port, while 3.5 inch drives need the 12V 2A supply connected to the 5.5 by 2.1 mm jack.
With UASP enabled on the host you can see up to 70 percent faster throughput than standard USB 3.0, so large backups and disk images finish noticeably quicker.
The USB 3.0 link caps at 5Gbps, so a SATA III drive will hit that ceiling rather than its native 6Gbps, but the adapter still saturates the port for everyday transfers.
