Professional ultrabook for office users

The HP EliteBook 745 G4 is a 14.0" FHD laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine. Its AMD PRO A10-8730B quad-core processor runs at 2.4 GHz up to 3.3 GHz with 6 MB L2 cache. Integrated Radeon R5 graphics handle everyday visual tasks. The 1920 x 1080 LED-backlit display is non-touch.

Simple memory limit and port access

The system ships with 16 GB DDR4 RAM in two occupied slots, so no further memory upgrades are possible. Storage uses a 512 GB SSD with no hard drive bay available. Ports include two USB 3.0 (one charging), one USB Type-C, one VGA, one DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet, and audio jacks. A 65-watt AC adapter is included.

Wi-Fi 4 caps wireless throughput

Wireless connectivity uses Wi-Fi 4 and earlier generations, limiting maximum link speeds compared to newer standards. The integrated graphics share system memory and are not suited for heavy 3D workloads. Maximum supported memory is 16 GB, which is already installed. Buyers needing faster wireless, discrete graphics, or expandable RAM should consider other options.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the AMD PRO A10-8730B is running at its 2.4 GHz base clock and 3.3 GHz boost after setup?

Open Task Manager's Performance tab and watch the CPU frequency while running a demanding task; it should reach the 3.3 GHz maximum turbo speed listed for the quad-core processor.

What cables or adapters are included in the box besides the 65-watt AC adapter, and what must I buy separately for dual monitors?

The package includes the 65-watt charger only; add a DisplayPort cable and a VGA cable (or DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapters) to drive two external displays from the two video outputs.

Should I choose the 16 GB DDR4 configuration with the 512 GB SSD or the 128 GB SSD version mentioned in the highlights?

Select the 512 GB SSD model — it quadruples the storage capacity while keeping the same 16 GB DDR4 memory and AMD A10-8730B processor.
