15.6-inch FHD business laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G5 G6 is a 15.6-inch non-touch laptop with a 1920 x 1080 FHD display and numeric keypad. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory in a 16 GB x 2 configuration. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output.

USB 3.1 Gen 1 and Thunderbolt connectivity

The laptop provides two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port with Thunderbolt support. Video output uses HDMI 1.4b. Wired networking runs over a Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 jack, while wireless uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. A docking connector and optional smart card or SIM slots are also present.

Upgrade from dual-core ultraportables

This configuration replaces older dual-core ultraportables that max out at 16 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage. The jump is worth it when workloads need 32 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512 GB SSD for local datasets or virtual machines. Buyers who need a smaller 13.3-inch or 14-inch chassis should consider other EliteBook models.

Questions about this item

Which configuration should I pick — G5 or G6, and 32 GB or 64 GB RAM?

The listing covers both G5 and G6 chassis; you will receive one of them. This unit ships with 32 GB DDR4 (16 GB × 2). The platform supports up to 64 GB if you plan to upgrade later.

What does the quad-core i7-8650U with Intel UHD Graphics 620 deliver in daily work?

Four cores and eight threads handle office suites, video calls and light creative tasks smoothly. The integrated UHD 620 drives the 15.6″ 1920 × 1080 panel and external displays without a discrete GPU.

What does the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port with Thunderbolt actually support?

The single Type-C connector carries USB 3.1 Gen 1 data and Thunderbolt signalling, so you can attach Thunderbolt docks, high-speed storage or extra monitors through one cable.
