Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 850 G7 pairs a quad-core Intel Core i5-10310U processor at 1.70 GHz with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. A 15.6 inch IPS panel delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution with LED backlight. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics uses shared system memory. The silver chassis carries a Grade B cosmetic rating, meaning visible scratches or shiny key surfaces are present.

Cooling and power in daily work

The 15 W processor targets thin-and-light thermal envelopes, so fan noise stays low during typical office loads such as document editing, video calls and web browsing. Sustained multi-core tasks will spin the fan higher but remain within the rated power budget. Intel UHD Graphics adds minimal heat because it shares the same die. Battery life varies with screen brightness and workload; the included OEM AC adapter matches the original wattage specification.

Connectivity and daily ergonomics

Two USB 3.1 Type-C ports with Thunderbolt support handle docks, external displays and high-speed storage through a single cable. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports keep legacy peripherals working, one of which supports charging while the laptop sleeps. HDMI 1.4 drives a second monitor or projector without adapters. Intel AX201 Wi-Fi 6 (2x2) and Bluetooth 5 provide modern wireless throughput. A 720p webcam and combo audio jack cover conferencing needs. No optical drive is fitted. Buyers who want a pristine exterior or a touchscreen should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2TB NVMe SSD and what step do people often miss?

The 2TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD is already fitted inside the EliteBook 850 G7. No installation is required; the step buyers sometimes miss is simply signing in to Windows 11 Pro on first boot.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 16GB DDR4 is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded or replaced. Maintenance is limited to keeping the cooling vents clear so the shared system memory stays within safe temperatures.

What limit appears first on the Intel UHD Graphics during sustained workloads?

The Intel UHD Graphics uses shared system memory and a 15 W CPU power envelope, so thermal throttling on the i5-10310U is the first limit reached under continuous load.
