HP EliteBook 850 G7 laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G7 is a 15.6 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-10610U quad-core processor running at 1.80 GHz. It comes with 8GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid state drive. The 1920 x 1080 FHD display uses LED backlighting and is non-touch. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is preinstalled.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This unit suits professionals who need a portable 15.6 inch workstation with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 for modern peripherals. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics uses shared system memory, so buyers who want discrete graphics for intensive 3D rendering or gaming should look elsewhere. The 8GB RAM is soldered and not upgradeable, limiting users who need more memory for heavy multitasking.

Deciding specification

The single specification that decides fit is the 1.80 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7-10610U processor paired with 8GB DDR4 and integrated graphics. This combination defines the performance ceiling for office productivity, video conferencing and light content creation on Windows 11 Pro.

Questions about this item

When will the 8 GB DDR4 memory need upgrading for heavier multitasking?

The 8 GB DDR4 is soldered and cannot be upgraded; if you need more memory later you must replace the whole laptop.

What thermal limit appears first when the Core i7-10610U runs at its 15 W TDP for long periods?

The 15 W power envelope caps sustained clock speeds, so the CPU throttles before the cooling system reaches its maximum.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the chassis feel during an all-day workload?

Under continuous load the fan spins up to an audible level and the keyboard deck becomes noticeably warm, though surface temperatures stay within normal operating limits.
