HP EliteBook 850 G8 laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G8 is a 15.6 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7 1185G7 processor with four cores and eight threads. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and integrates Intel Iris Xe graphics using shared system memory. The unit is graded Cosmetic Condition Grade B, meaning it shows visible scratches or surface wear but functions fully.

Thunderbolt 4 and connectivity

Two USB Type C Thunderbolt 4 ports provide high speed data transfer and video output alongside one USB 3.2 Gen 1 port and one USB 3.1 Gen 1 port. An HDMI port supports external displays while Intel Dual Band AX201 WiFi and Bluetooth 5.2 handle wireless links. The package includes the laptop, charger and battery.

1 TB NVMe storage and 8 GB RAM

The 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD offers ample space for operating system, applications and large project files without relying on external drives. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory handles typical office multitasking and web workloads smoothly. Memory intensive tasks such as virtual machines or heavy media editing will exceed the available RAM headroom.

Questions about this item

How long will the 8GB DDR4 memory last before I need to upgrade for heavier multitasking?

The laptop ships with 8GB of soldered DDR4; if your workload grows beyond that capacity you would need to replace the whole unit because the memory is not user-expandable.

What stops the Core i7-1185G7 from holding its 3.0 GHz boost during long renders?

The 15.6" chassis relies on a single heat-pipe cooler, so sustained all-core work pushes the CPU into thermal throttling before the power limit becomes the bottleneck.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the keyboard deck feel after a full day of video calls?

Under typical office loads the fan stays near idle and the deck remains lukewarm; during back-to-back calls the fan becomes clearly audible and the area above the keyboard grows warm to the touch.
