Versatile 2-in-1 for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5 G6 is a 13.3-inch convertible notebook with a 360-degree hinge that switches between laptop and tablet modes. Its FHD IPS touchscreen uses Corning Gorilla Glass for durability. An 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor runs at 1.7 GHz up to 3.6 GHz with Intel UHD Graphics 620. The system includes 8 GB onboard DDR42133 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD running Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit.

No user upgrades; check ports on arrival

Memory is soldered to the board so capacity cannot be increased after purchase. The storage drive uses an M.2 slot; verify the replacement drive matches the PCIe NVMe interface before ordering. Two USB-C ports support Thunderbolt; confirm your peripherals use the correct protocol. The spill-resistant keyboard drains liquid but test all keys and the touchscreen calibration immediately after unboxing.

Buyers needing more memory

This unit ships with 8 GB of non-expandable RAM, limiting heavy multitasking or virtualisation workloads. Integrated UHD Graphics 620 handles office apps and media playback but not 3D rendering or modern gaming. Only two USB-C Thunderbolt ports and one USB 3.1 Gen 1 connector are available; docks or hubs may be required for legacy USB-A, Ethernet or multiple displays. Verify your workflow fits these constraints before ordering.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the 13.3" FHD touchscreen and Intel UHD 620 graphics are working after setup?

Open Device Manager and verify the display adapter shows Intel UHD Graphics 620; the screen should report 1920 x 1080 resolution and respond to ten-point touch input.

What ships in the box and what must I purchase separately for this 1TB SSD / 8GB DDR4 model?

The unit includes the 2-in-1 notebook with 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD and 8 GB DDR42133 onboard RAM, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit licence, and AC adapter; no user-replaceable parts are supplied.

Should I select the i5-8350U 1.7 GHz up to 3.6 GHz or the i7-8350U 1.9 GHz up to 4.1 GHz version for this 13.3" FHD model?

Choose the i5-8350U configuration for standard office workloads; step up to the i7-8350U if you need higher Turbo Boost frequency for sustained multi-threaded tasks.
