Convertible 2-in-1 for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5 G6 is a 13.3-inch touchscreen convertible built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor. Eight gigabytes of onboard DDR42133 memory and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD provide the baseline configuration. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS panel. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Corning Gorilla Glass and spill-resistant keyboard

The FHD BrightView touchscreen uses Corning Gorilla Glass for surface durability in tablet and tent modes. A Premium Collaboration keyboard adds spill resistance with a drain design and DuraKeys keycaps. Connectivity includes two USB-C Thunderbolt ports, HDMI, USB 3.1 Gen 1 charging port, headphone combo jack and Bluetooth 4.2.

Straightforward deployment with fixed memory

The system arrives ready to use with Windows 10 Pro activated; no driver hunting is required for the integrated components. Memory is soldered onboard, so capacity cannot be increased after purchase. Buyers who need more than 8 GB RAM or a discrete GPU should consider a different platform. The 360-degree hinge is rated for repeated mode changes but remains a mechanical wear point.

Questions about this item

Will the 8 GB of onboard DDR42133 memory need to be upgraded later?

The 8 GB of DDR42133 RAM is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded, so the capacity you buy is the capacity you keep for the life of the device.

What performance limit appears first when the i5-8350U runs at 3.6 GHz for long periods?

The quad-core processor will hit its thermal ceiling and reduce clocks once the cooling system saturates during sustained heavy workloads.

How loud and hot does the convertible get when it is used all day?

The fan stays quiet during light tasks but spins up noticeably under continuous load, and the aluminium chassis becomes warm to the touch near the hinge area.
