Dual-radio 802.11n wireless access point operating on 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz bands
The HPE 103 Instant access point delivers IEEE 802.11n wireless connectivity for small business and branch-office environments. Dual-radio operation on 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz bands lets administrators separate legacy clients from newer devices on the same hardware. It is built for organisations that need straightforward deployment without a dedicated controller appliance.
The unit runs silently with no moving parts, relying on passive cooling to maintain operating temperatures during continuous duty. Power is supplied through a standard Ethernet connection, so no separate mains adapter is required at the mounting location. Typical draw remains low enough for standard PoE switches to support several units on a single power budget.
Replacing older single-band 802.11g hardware with the 103 Instant adds 5 GHz capacity and reduces co-channel interference in dense deployments. The step up is worthwhile when client counts exceed what a single 2.40 GHz radio can serve reliably. Sites already running dual-band 802.11n gear will see limited benefit unless they need the Instant management model.

The unit ships with a mounting bracket for ceiling or wall installation. The step most installers miss is securing the safety tether to the building structure before tightening the bracket screws.
The internal power supply is the first component likely to require replacement after several years of continuous operation.
The combined 802.11n throughput ceiling is reached before either radio hits its individual thermal limit.
