Eight-bay tri-mode cage for DL300 Gen10 Plus

The HPE P27194-B21 is a front-access drive cage that adds eight hot-swap 2.5-inch bays to a 2U ProLiant DL300 Gen10 Plus chassis. Each bay accepts U.3 NVMe x1, SATA-600 or SAS 4.0 drives, so administrators can mix flash and capacity media without changing hardware. The kit is aimed at IT teams expanding local storage density in existing 2U servers.

Fits a single 2U front slot

Installation consumes one front cage position and connects to the server's tri-mode backplane through SFF-8639 connectors. No additional CPU, memory or PCIe cards are required; the cage draws power and signal through the backplane it plugs into. This frees PCIe slots for networking or acceleration cards while keeping all storage cabling internal.

Passive cooling relies on chassis airflow

The cage itself has no fans or active components, so thermal performance and acoustics depend entirely on the host server's front fans. In normal operation it adds negligible power draw beyond the installed drives, leaving the system's thermal headroom unchanged. Builders must ensure the chassis fan profile can sustain the aggregate drive load.
