IBM Serveraid 6M Dual-Channel Controller

This IBM Serveraid 6M controller adds dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI connectivity to servers through a PCI-X 133MHz slot. It includes 256MB cache memory and a battery backup unit to protect data during power loss. The card ships with a standard bracket for installation in compatible chassis. It suits administrators maintaining legacy storage arrays that require hardware RAID acceleration.

Sustained Operation With Battery-Backed Cache

Under continuous write workloads the 256MB cache absorbs bursts while the battery preserves pending data if mains power fails. The dual-channel topology lets the firmware stripe or mirror across two independent SCSI buses without saturating a single path. Thermal output remains within the limits of the original server airflow design because no active cooler is fitted. The card is not suited for environments that demand PCI Express signalling or larger cache pools.
