Connects a 2.5″ SATA SSD or HDD via USB 3.0 at up to 5 Gbps with UASP support for faster transfers, using a 9‑inch aluminum‑cased nylon cable
This adapter connects a 2.5-inch SATA SSD or HDD to a USB 3.0 port on a laptop or desktop. It is intended for users who need to add external storage, clone a drive, recover data or back up files without installing the drive internally. The 9-inch cable keeps the setup compact and portable. It does not support 3.5-inch drives.
The USB 3.0 connection provides a theoretical maximum of 5 Gbps. UASP can reduce overhead and improve throughput on systems that support it, which includes Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 or later, and Linux. Without UASP the transfer rate will be lower. The adapter draws power from the USB port, so the host must supply enough current for the connected drive.
Verify that the drive you plan to use is a 2.5-inch SATA model; 3.5-inch drives are not supported and will not work. Confirm the computer has a USB 3.0 Type-A port to achieve the stated speeds; USB 2.0 ports will limit performance. Ensure the USB port can deliver sufficient power for the specific SSD or HDD you intend to connect.

The adapter works with 2.5" SATA SSDs or HDDs only; it does not support 3.5" drives.
Up to 5 Gbps over USB 3.0; with UASP enabled on Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 or later, or Linux, real-world throughput can be about 70% faster than standard USB 3.0.
The adapter supports UASP, which lets a SATA III drive reach closer to its native speed over the USB 3.0 link, though the 5 Gbps bus remains the hard ceiling.
