Tri-Mode Adapter for MegaRAID & HBA

This Innocard adapter bridges SlimSAS 4i and U.2 connectors to dual PCIe x4 slots. It operates at PCIe Gen4 16GT/s and is designed for Broadcom 95xx series tri-mode storage adapters. The board includes active power management with eFuse protection on the 12 V rail and a synchronous buck converter for 3.3 V delivery. It is built in Taiwan.

Check Motherboard Slots and Backplane Pin-Outs

Verify that the host system provides two physical PCIe x4 slots with electrical x4 links. Confirm the backplane uses SFF-8654 4i pin-out per SFF-9402 Rev 1.1 and that BP_TYPEA or BP_TYPEB pull-ups match the Broadcom 95xx requirement. Ensure the chassis can supply 12 V hot-plug power within the 6.5 A programmable current limit. The adapter also requires SMBus two-wire buffer support for hot-swap signalling.

Replaces Separate U.2 and SlimSAS Carrier Boards

This single card consolidates U.2 (SFF-8639) and SlimSAS 4i (SFF-8654) breakout functions that would otherwise need two adapters. The jump is worth it when deploying Broadcom 95xx PCIe 4.0 MegaRAID or HBA tri-mode controllers that demand both CPRSNTA# and CPRSNTB# pull-low detection. It also eliminates the need for discrete 12 V to 3.3 V conversion modules and external eFuse circuitry.
