Hot-Swap Cage for Four Drives

The iStarUSA BPN-DE340SS-RED converts three 5.25-inch bays into a trayless cage holding four 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives. It suits server builders who need high-density storage with tool-free drive changes and a physical key lock for access control.

Single 80mm Fan Cooling

One 80mm fan draws air across the aluminum frame, which acts as a heatsink for the installed drives. A removable fan cover allows quick cleaning without removing the cage, keeping airflow steady during continuous operation.

Dual SATA Power and Four Data Ports

The cage requires two 15-pin SATA power connectors and provides four 7-pin SATA data connectors for the drives. Blue LEDs show power status while red LEDs indicate drive activity, giving immediate visual feedback at the front bezel.

Questions about this item

How do I install the BPN-DE340SS-RED into three 5.25-inch bays, and which step is often missed?

Slide the aluminium frame into three 5.25-inch bays, secure it with screws, then connect both 15-pin SATA power plugs and all four 7-pin SATA data cables; the step most often missed is plugging in the second power connector so the 80 mm fan and all four drive slots receive power.

What maintenance will the cage need later, and how is it done?

The removable fan cover lifts off without tools, letting you clean or replace the single 80 mm fan; the aluminium trayless slots have no plastic carriers to wear out, so only the fan requires periodic attention.

What is the first limit reached under sustained use with four drives?

The single 80 mm fan provides the only active airflow, so drive temperatures will hit their thermal throttling point before the 6.0 Gb/s SATA III interface saturates.
