Secure portable storage for regulated data

The iStorage diskAshur PRO2 IS-DAP2-256-500-C-X is a 500GB 2.5" portable hard drive built for professionals who must protect sensitive information. It authenticates via an on-board keypad before the drive becomes visible to any host. No software installation is required, so it works on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, Chrome, thin clients and embedded systems.

FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified encryption

The single specification that decides suitability is the government-grade validation. A Common Criteria EAL5+ ready secure microprocessor performs real-time AES-XTS 256-bit hardware encryption validated to FIPS PUB 197. The drive meets FIPS 140-2 Level 3, Common Criteria EAL4+ ready requirements and complies with GDPR, CCPA and HIPAA mandates.

Sustained throughput with physical hardening

Under continuous operation the drive delivers up to 361MB/s read and 358MB/s write over USB 3.2 Gen 1. An IP56 rated enclosure resists dust and water ingress while the secure microprocessor enters a deadlock frozen state if automated attacks are detected. The ruggedised chassis and included carry case protect the mechanism during daily transport.

Questions about this item

What read and write speeds can I expect when the drive is connected to a USB 3.2 port?

The drive delivers up to 361MB/s read and 358MB/s write speeds over USB 3.2, so large files transfer in seconds rather than minutes.

How does the USB 3.1 interface affect performance on older USB 2.0 ports?

USB 3.1 is backwards compatible, so the drive works on USB 2.0 ports but transfer speeds will be limited to the older port's maximum bandwidth.

Will the 2.5 inch form factor and IP56 rating let me carry it in a laptop bag without extra protection?

Yes, the compact 2.5 inch chassis measures 0.79 by 4.88 by 3.31 inches and weighs 0.50 lb, and the IP56 rating means it resists dust and water jets, making it rugged enough for daily transport.
