Portable 1080p capture with 60 W PD

The j5create JVA01 is a compact HDMI capture card that records 1080p video while passing through up to 60 W of Power Delivery 3.0 charging to the host laptop. It also provides a 4K HDMI output and two SuperSpeed USB 5Gbps ports for peripherals. When not capturing, the device works as a standard USB-C hub for display and accessory expansion.

Streamers needing one capture input

This suits creators who want a single 1080p capture feed with simultaneous laptop charging and a 4K external display. It does not suit users who require 4K capture, multiple HDMI inputs, or capture at frame rates beyond what 1080p allows. Buyers needing higher-resolution recording should look elsewhere.

1080p maximum capture resolution

The decisive specification is the 1080p capture ceiling; the card cannot record 4K or 1440p sources at native resolution. If your workflow demands capture above 1080p, this device will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

What host port does the JVA01 need to connect to a laptop?

The JVA01 plugs into a single USB-C port on the host computer for video capture, data and power delivery.

Which driver step do streamers often miss when setting up the capture function?

The device uses UVC so the capture feed appears automatically, but the 60 W PD pass-through only activates when a compatible charger is connected to the USB-C PD input.

What part of the JVA01 would need replacement if the pass-through charging stops working?

The USB-C PD input port handles the 60 W pass-through; if it fails the hub can still pass video and data but will no longer charge the host.
