Jansicotek OZG1 1×3 Toslink Splitter

This compact aluminium-alloy splitter takes a single SPDIF/Toslink optical input and distributes it to three identical outputs. It is powered by an included USB 5 V cable and ships with a short optical cable and a user manual. Home-theatre owners, remote-teaching setups and video-conferencing rigs can all share one digital-audio source across three receiving devices without software configuration.

Replacing a single-output source

When a TV, console, streamer or Blu-ray player offers only one optical port but you need to feed a soundbar, an AV receiver and a recording device simultaneously, this unit removes the need to swap cables manually. The upgrade is worth it whenever you have three SPDIF/Toslink inputs that must stay permanently connected to the same source signal.

Capacity and headroom

The splitter handles LPCM 2.0, Dolby Digital (AC3) and DTS bitstreams at up to 16 Mbps with a 650 nm peak wavelength. Each output can drive optical cable runs up to 40 m provided attenuation stays below 0.2 dB/m, and the circuit draws no more than 100 mA from the USB supply. It does not decode or down-mix multi-channel formats beyond those listed, so devices that require DTS-HD Master Audio, TrueHD or higher sample rates will not be supported.

Questions about this item

How much space does the 5.59 x 3.15 x 1.26 inch aluminum splitter need on my rack or shelf?

The unit measures 5.59 inches wide, 3.15 inches deep and 1.26 inches high, so allow at least that footprint plus a little clearance for the three Toslink cables and the USB power lead.

Which connectors go in and which go out when I hook up the 1×3 Toslink splitter?

Connect the source to the single SPDIF Toslink IN port, plug the three receiving devices into the three SPDIF Toslink OUT ports, then attach the included USB power cable to a 5 V USB supply — the step often missed is powering the unit before expecting audio.

When should I replace the included optical cable to keep loss under 0.2 dB per metre?

Replace the cable if you exceed the 40 metre total run, notice intermittent drop-outs, or see visible kinks or end-face damage — any of those will push loss above the 0.2 dB/m budget.
