Converter for Digital to Analog Audio

The Jansicotek OZHL2 converts optical, coaxial and USB digital sources into stereo analog output through RCA and 3.5 mm jacks. It accepts PCM and LPCM signals at 32, 44.1, 48, 96 and 192 kHz with 24-bit depth. A built-in headphone amplifier delivers 125 mW per channel into 32 ohms and supports 32 to 600 ohm headphones. Volume and bass knobs provide direct control.

Replaces a Missing Analog Output

It adds analog connectivity to TVs, consoles, Blu-ray players or PCs that lack RCA or 3.5 mm outputs. The step up is worthwhile when a source only provides Toslink, coaxial or USB audio and the amplifier or headphones require analog input. Note that 5.1 channel formats such as Dolby AC3 are not supported; the source must be set to PCM or LPCM.

Fits Between Digital Source and Analog Gear

The unit is powered by the included USB cable and operated with the supplied IR remote. It connects to a digital output on the source device and feeds an amplifier, powered speakers or headphones through the analog outputs. No driver installation is required for the USB input. Buyers who need multi-channel decoding or wireless streaming will not find those functions here.

Questions about this item

What connectors does the Jansicotek OZHL2 need on my equipment for the optical Toslink and coaxial inputs?

The converter accepts optical Toslink and coaxial digital cables directly; no extra adapters are required for those two inputs.

How do I power the converter and which setting on my source device is the step most people miss?

Connect the supplied USB power cable to any 5 V USB port, then set the source audio output to PCM or LPCM — the converter does not decode 5.1 channel formats such as Dolby AC3.

What headphone impedance range should I plan for when the pads eventually wear out and I buy replacements?

The headphone amplifier is rated for 32 to 600 ohm loads, so replacement headphones must fall within that range for proper operation.
