Component to HDMI conversion

The Jansicotek converter changes analog YPbPr video and stereo audio into a single HDMI 1.4 signal. It lets owners of DVD players, Blu-ray decks, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360 or original Xbox connect those devices to a modern HDTV, monitor or projector. The box requires the included 5 V / 1 A power supply to operate.

Supported resolutions and bandwidth

Input accepts 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p at 50 or 60 Hz and 1080i or 1080p at 50 or 60 Hz. Output is limited to 480p, 576p, 720p at 60 Hz and 1080p at 60 Hz. The 1.65 Gbps video amplifier bandwidth and HDCP 1.4 compliance cover these formats, but higher refresh rates or 4K signals are not supported.

Connections and daily use

A single 5 RCA socket group handles YPbPr or RGB video plus left and right audio, while one HDMI port carries the combined digital stream. The converter only works in the Component-to-HDMI direction; it cannot pass an HDMI source to a Component display. No upscaling or frame-rate conversion is performed, so the source must already output one of the listed resolutions.
